WITH CONFIDENCE

Master Gastrointestinal Diseases in just 6 weeks - guided by a board-certified specialist.

A practical, real-world training from Dr. Betty Chow BVM&S, MRCVS, DACVIM (SAIM) on diagnosing and managing pancreatitis in cats - taken straight from our Essentials of Gastrointestinal Diseases course.

Why You’ll Love This Lesson

✔️ Learn how to interpret fPL results and avoid the most common diagnostic pitfalls
✔️ Understand how pancreatitis overlaps with hepatic lipidosis, cholangitis, and IBD in cats
✔️ Practical, real-world guidance on nutrition and treatment for your next feline patient

Course Plan at a Glance

Every week you’ll unlock the next topic in the sequence shown below. You can watch each video as many times as you like until the second exam window closes.

Week 1: Acute Diarrhea

Less Guesswork. More Clarity. Stop the Cycle of Over-Treatment.

Learn how to evaluate and treat acute diarrhea in dogs and cats with a focus on clinical judgment and evidence-based strategies:

- Common causes: diet, stress, dysbiosis. Not always infection
- When (not) to test and when (not) to treat
- Why Clostridium and enterotoxins can be misleading
- What diagnostics are more helpful than others
- ENOVAT antimicrobial guidelines: why antibiotics are rarely (or almost never) indicated
- Dietary management strategies: fiber, probiotics, rehydration

By the end of this module you will feel confident treating acute GI cases without over-testing or over-medicating. You will understand the clinical reasoning behind antibiotic avoidance and know how to build simple, effective treatment plans that work.

Week 2: Canine Chronic Enteropathy

Sort It Out. Treat the Patient. Stop the Guesswork.

Learn how to approach chronic GI cases in dogs, including protein-losing enteropathies.

- Diet trials: how many, how long, and what to choose
- Diagnostics that matter: cobalamin, folate, fecal testing, imaging
- The role (and limitations) of immunosuppressants, antibiotics, and FMT
- What to do when dogs don’t respond to anything

By the end of this module you will be able to confidently approach chronic GI cases using a step-by-step framework. You will know how to prioritize diet, interpret diagnostics, and tailor treatment plans based on patient response.

Week 3: Feline Chronic Enteropathy

Stop Calling Everything “IBD.” Get Specific. Get Strategic.

Feline CE is not just “IBD.” This module teaches you how to navigate the overlapping clinical signs of CIE, small cell lymphoma, and other GI diseases in cats.

- Updated terminology
- Diagnostic strategies: diet trials, GI panels, ultrasound, when to biopsy
- Understanding IHC and clonality testing
- Treatment options: diet, prednisolone, budesonide, chlorambucil
- Prognosis, monitoring, and owner communication

By the end of this module you will feel confident distinguishing inflammatory vs neoplastic GI disease in cats. You will know how to structure workups, interpret test results, and manage cases long-term, even when biopsy isn’t an option.

Week 4: Pancreatitis (Dogs & Cats)

Recognize. Treat. Feed.

Move beyond outdated assumptions and get clarity on diagnosing and managing pancreatitis in both species, from acute cases to chronic relapsers.

- Clinical signs and comorbidities you might miss
- What to do (and not to do) with pancreatic enzyme testing and ultrasound findings
- Treatment: fluids, antiemetics, analgesia, and nutritional support
- Fuzapladib: when should we use it?
- Chronic pancreatitis, DM, EPI, and long-term care

By the end of this module you will feel confident diagnosing and managing both acute and chronic pancreatitis. You’ll understand how to interpret diagnostics, build supportive treatment plans, and reintroduce nutrition safely and effectively.

Week 5: Case-Based & Real-World Application

Real Cases. Real Decision-Making. Build Your GI Toolkit.

This final module puts everything into practice using realistic case studies and clinical scenarios. Work through GI cases from initial triage through to discharge planning.

By the end of this module you will be able to apply everything you've learned to complex GI cases. You'll practise building stepwise treatment plans, thinking like an internist, and adjusting confidently even when the diagnosis is evolving.

Week 6: Examination

Online MCQ Exam

The exam is based directly on the course content - can be accessed any time after you complete the course materials. You’ll have three attempts to take the test, with each attempt limited to two hours. Your result will appear instantly. Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Email us at hello@thevettribe.com
We're here to help!

Are the lessons live?

No, after five years of running online courses we know veterinarians and vet students prefer to study when it suits them. All teaching is delivered as pre-recorded videos (5-20 min each) grouped into weekly modules (about 2h of content per module). This format also avoids time-zone clashes and 5 a.m. alarms.

Do I get all modules at once?

No. The course is designed to release modules gradually so you have time to absorb each topic before moving on. As soon as you enroll, Module 1 unlocks right away, and then a new module becomes available every 7 days from your enrollment date (regardless of which day of the week you sign up).

You'll have access to all content for 6 months in total from the day you enroll, so you can revisit videos and resources as often as you like.

Will I have contact with the mentor?

Yes. You’ll be part of The Vet Tribe Community - available on our website or through the app. That’s where you can ask questions and get answers from mentors and the wider community. Whether you’re stuck on a case, curious about a detail, or just want to share your progress, you won’t be learning alone. Read, post, connect, and keep growing - together.

Will I get a certificate after completing the course?

Yes! To earn your certificate, you’ll need to pass the online exam with a score of 70% or higher. Your personalised certificate will be issued once you’ve met that requirement. This ensures that only students who have genuinely engaged with and understood the material receive certification.

How long do I keep access to course materials?

You'll have full access to the course for 6 months from the day you sign up. Learn at your own pace, revisit modules, and stay connected the whole way through.

How long can I watch the videos?

This is a 6-week course with one module unlocked each week to keep you focused. You'll have full access to all content and replays for 6 months from the moment you enroll.

The videos sound quiet – what can I do?

Some browsers default to 30% volume. Click the speaker icon in the lower-left of the player and raise the level. If that fails, clear your browser cookies, check your device's audio settings or try another device/headphones.

Can I log in from multiple devices?

Your purchase is for one person. The system flags simultaneous log-ins; misuse may lead to your account being suspended.

Can I download all the materials?

All PDFs, workbooks and documents can be saved locally. Videos cannot be downloaded - this protects the content from piracy.

Should I print the workbook?

Highly recommended. Many vets find it easier to write notes by hand, but you can just as easily use the PDF alongside your own digital or paper notebook.

Is the exam live?

The exam is hosted on our online platform. Once it unlocks, you can start it anytime and complete it at your own pace. You'll need a score of 70% or higher to pass and receive your certificate.

Do I get complimentary access to The Vet Tribe Community?

Yes. When you join the course, you get free access to The Vet Tribe Community for 6 months. It’s your space to ask questions, connect with mentors and other vets, share your wins, and keep learning together. After 6 months, you can choose to continue or leave - no pressure, cancel anytime.

What if it's not the right fit?

We've got you. If you decide the course isn't for you, just email us during the first week after enrolling - before Module 2 unlocks - and we'll give you a 100% refund, no questions asked.

Can I split my payment?

Split your payment at no extra cost! Get started today by paying just half the course fee. The second half is automatically charged in one month. No interest, no hidden fees - just an easy way to make the course more accessible.
