Week 2: Canine Chronic Enteropathy

Learn how to apply a structured framework (FRE, ARE, IRE, PLE, NRE) to chronic GI cases in dogs. This module provides real-world tools to manage common presentations with confidence.


- FRE, ARE, IRE, PLE and NRE classifications
- Diet trials: how many, how long, and what to choose
- Diagnostics that matter: cobalamin, folate, fecal testing, imaging
- The role (and limitations) of immunosuppressants, antibiotics, and FMT
- Practical protocols for managing PLE, lymphangiectasia, and small cell lymphoma
- What to do when dogs don’t respond to anything

By the end of this module you will be able to confidently approach chronic GI cases using a step-by-step framework. You will know how to prioritize diet, interpret diagnostics, and tailor treatment plans based on patient response.


Week 3: Feline Chronic Enteropathy

Stop Calling Everything “IBD.” Get Specific. Get Strategic.

Feline CE is not just “IBD.” This module teaches you how to navigate the overlapping clinical signs of CIE, small cell lymphoma, and other GI diseases in cats.


- Updated terminology: CIE vs IBD vs SCL
- Diagnostic strategies: diet trials, GI panels, ultrasound, when to biopsy
- Understanding IHC and clonality testing
- Treatment options: diet, prednisolone, budesonide, chlorambucil
- Prognosis, monitoring, and owner communication

By the end of this module you will feel confident distinguishing inflammatory vs neoplastic GI disease in cats. You will know how to structure workups, interpret test results, and manage cases long-term, even when biopsy isn’t an option.


Week 4: Pancreatitis (Dogs & Cats)

Move beyond outdated assumptions and get clarity on diagnosing and managing pancreatitis in both species, from acute cases to chronic relapsers.


- Clinical signs and comorbidities you might miss
- What to do (and not do) with cPL, fPL, and ultrasound
- Treatment: fluids, antiemetics, analgesia, and nutritional support
- Fuzapladib: when (and when not) to use it
- Chronic pancreatitis, DM, EPI, and long-term care

By the end of this module you will feel confident diagnosing and managing both acute and chronic pancreatitis. You’ll understand how to interpret diagnostics, build supportive treatment plans, and reintroduce nutrition safely and effectively.


Week 5: Case-Based & Real-World Application

Real Cases. Real Decision-Making. Build Your GI Toolkit.

This final module puts everything into practice using realistic case studies and clinical scenarios. Work through GI cases from initial triage through to discharge planning.

By the end of this module you will be able to apply everything you've learned to complex GI cases. You'll practise building stepwise treatment plans, thinking like an internist, and adjusting confidently even when the diagnosis is evolving.


Week 6: Examination


Online MCQ Exam

The exam is based directly on the course content - can be accessed any time after you complete the course materials. You’ll have three attempts to take the test, with each attempt limited to two hours. Your result will appear instantly. Score at least 70%, and you’ll receive your personalised certificate signed by Dr. Betty Chow.

How the cohort works
We run our courses in guided cohorts so veterinarians can learn within a structured, supported environment. This is a fully online course designed for veterinarians to learn from anywhere, at their own pace, with specialist support. During the cohort period, board-certified specialists answer questions and help you apply the material safely in real clinical cases. Once enrolled, you can begin progressing through the course while mentor support remains available throughout the cohort.

Are the lessons live?


No, after five years of running online courses we know veterinarians and vet students prefer to study when it suits them. All teaching is delivered as pre-recorded videos (5-20 min each) grouped into weekly modules (about 2h of content per module). This format also avoids time-zone clashes and 5 a.m. alarms.

Do I get all modules at once?


No. The course is designed to release modules gradually so you have time to absorb each topic before moving on. As soon as you enroll, Module 1 unlocks right away, and then a new module becomes available every 7 days from your enrollment date (regardless of which day of the week you sign up).

You'll have access to all content for 6 months in total from the day you enroll, so you can revisit videos and resources as often as you like.

Will I have contact with the mentor?


Yes. You’ll be part of The Vet Tribe Community - available on our website or through the app. That’s where you can ask questions and get answers from mentors and the wider community. This is a 6-week course with one module unlocked each week to keep you focused. You'll have full access to all content and replays for 6 months from the moment you enroll.

The videos sound quiet – what can I do?

Can I log in from multiple devices?

All PDFs, workbooks and documents can be saved locally. Videos cannot be downloaded - this protects the content from piracy.

Should I print the workbook?


Highly recommended. Many vets find it easier to write notes by hand, but you can just as easily use the PDF alongside your own digital or paper notebook.

Is the exam live?


The exam is hosted on our online platform. Once it unlocks, you can start it anytime and complete it at your own pace. You'll need a score of 70% or higher to pass and receive your certificate.
